Game Drafts
This is a page I'm going to use to host drafts of the games I'm working on. If I sent you a link to this page, it's probably because I respect your critical capacities and would like to hear your feedback on one of the drafts. Please do so! I'll be very glad to have feedback, whether constructive criticism or pointless praise.
If you wish to playtest one of these games, that's great! Feel free to do so. I only ask in return that you send me a brief report about how it went, which parts you enjoyed most, which parts didn't seem to work, and what the biggest surprises were. The easiest way is to send me an e-mail at "ptarus (at) cs.mcgill.ca".
Land of Nodd (old PDF--see below for up-to-date rules)
A roleplaying game designed to tell stories in which multiple protagonists pursue independent plotlines. I wrote this when I started wondering how my thinking about storytelling games (like Muse) would alter my approach to designing an RPG. In Land of Nodd, every player gets to play a character and GM. Scrapbook.
See also the Land of Nodd Appendix.
Update: New rules in progress here.
A roleplaying game about communities in crisis.
This is a first-session hack to Vincent Baker's Apocalypse World. Characters emerge from the Vault to explore what's left of the world.
A more visceral version of the harm rules for Apocalypse World.
A basic hack of Apocalypse World for children. This is Men in Black meets Ghostbusters.
A friend of mine, Jonathan Benn, and I collaborated on a storytelling game he named Muse. This section will contain any variations and additional rules I write for Muse.
Other storytelling games I'm working on at the moment.
My tribute to old-school dungeon crawling. Under construction.
For easy, pickup roleplaying. Ideally suited to three people.
A quick card-based game for a small number of players and GM.
An attempt at a Dogs-like system which uses a mini-game based on "Dice Fight".
A roleaplying game loosely inspired by The Princess Bride. Players share aspects of the GM role throughout play; or it may be played by a "player team" and a "GM team".
A modified mechanic for use with Lady Blackbird or The Shadow of Yesterday, for more fun and more complications!
A generic resolution mechanic!
Just notes.
Another generic system, based around risking things in conflicts.
Another playset, based on Apocalypse World. A simple fantasy game.
For another nice (almost finished) game, look up "The Silver Dragon's Tear".
